I was one of those kids that thought I could never sit here and wear this uniform. I didn't think that I'd ever aspire to be where I am, but for me it's important particularly to be a role model for young aboriginal men and women. It’s an honour to walk proud and to display that culture.

Protective Service Officer Superintendent Joshua joined the AFP in 2005, with previous experience in the military.

Josh felt accepted as a Boandik man in the AFP, and found many opportunities available to him within the agency.

He initially believed he could never be a police officer due to his cultural background. However, now he values the importance of being a role model for young First Nations men and women as an AFP officer, and is open and proud of his culture.
