Overview

Our AFP Reserve harnesses the skills, qualifications and experience of our former employees, including police officers, protective service officers, and specialist and support staff.

Our skilled and qualified reserves provide additional capacity to our workforce, are ready to be engaged at short notice and to help us deliver results.

Engaged for short-term periods, reserve’s free up our employees to focus on higher priority or more complex work. They don’t replace the need for recruitment of permanent employees or deprive them of employment or promotion opportunities.

Who should apply

Former AFP employees with policing, protective service officer or specialist and support experience can apply.

If your application is successful, you will be included in our Reserve talent pool. You may be approached to work on a casual short-term basis with one of our business areas. Inclusion in the Reserve pool doesn’t guarantee you a role, as casual employment placement is dependent on our agency’s needs and skills required.

Being a part of the AFP Reserve can help you adjust from working full-time or transitioning to retirement, while continuing to assist us in our efforts to protect Australians and Australia’s interests from serious criminal threats.

Marc, AFP Reserve

Whether you’re resigning or retiring – that doesn’t mean it’s the end of your commitment or relationship with the AFP. The Reserve provides you the opportunity to stay connected, engaged and part of the AFP family in your own time, rather than in a full-time capacity."
