ACT Policing is the community policing service of the Australian Federal Police (AFP).

As an ACT police officer, you'll be the first point of contact for people who need help. No 2 days are the same. And the work you do makes a real difference.

You'll work with the community to address:

  • victim-based crime
  • threats to community safety
  • serious and organised crime
  • road safety.

Keeping people safe in Canberra and its surrounds.

What you’ll do

As part of your day-to-day work as an ACT police officer, you'll:

  • patrol the Canberra community and respond to incidents
  • deal with crimes such as robbery, drug offences, family violence and traffic incidents
  • proactively engage with the Canberra community.

In time, you'll have the opportunity to take on a specialist role, such as:

  • community safety
  • crash investigations
  • emergency and disaster management
  • family violence
  • fraud
  • intelligence
  • major crime, such as drugs, organised crime and homicide
  • road policing
  • rural patrol
  • sexual assault.
