Operation Moonbi is an AFP investigation that has led to a man, 35, being charged with allegedly producing child abuse material through his employment at childcare and early education facilities in the north-west suburbs of Sydney between 2009 and 2025.

The Glossodia man has been remanded in custody since 10 July 2025 and does not pose a current threat to the community.

A non-publication order, sought by the AFP to undertake a comprehensive victim identification process and contact impacted families, was discontinued in court on 13 July 2026. It is important to note that impacted families have already been contacted by the AFP and NSW Health. Support services have been offered and continue to be provided.

Additionally, there is also access to NSW Health resources for support should you need it. We understand that this is an extremely challenging and difficult time for everyone, however the AFP, NSW Department of Communities and Justice, NSW Health and the NSW Early Learning Commission continue to work closely together to assist you in the ongoing protection of children and young people.

Below is a list of locations in which the man has worked based on the information available to the AFP.  Between 2009 to 2025, the man worked at or attended, in a child care, incursion or assessment capacity, over 55 childhood education facilities, predominantly in Sydney's north-west.

During this period, it's alleged he committed multiple offences against children at five (5) facilities, which includes four childcare centres and his own early education business.

How do I talk to my child about child safety and wellbeing concerns?

NSW Health has developed the following resource to help support age-appropriate conversations with your child.

What should I do if I still have concerns?

My child has made a disclosure

If your child makes a disclosure of abuse or harm, try to stay calm and give some positive messages of belief and support including:

  • I believe you
  • You're brave for telling me
  • What has happened is not your fault
  • I'm here for you and will support you

Find a private space and contact the NSW Child Protection Helpline on 132 111 and let them know of your child's disclosure and the service they attended.

Local contact point

Further support can be arranged through calling the dedicated local contact point on +61 2 9765 1000, from 7am to 7pm AEST, 14 July to 26 July 2026.

Your contact details will be passed onto NSW Health counsellors with your consent.

If you have information that you think may be related to Operation Moonbi, or you wish to report any crime you can also do so by using the AFP Report a Crime form.

Should my child have a medical assessment?

Operation Moonbi has not identified any children that specifically require a medical assessment. However, if you do have medical concerns, advice can be obtained by contacting the dedicated Local contact point. Your contact details will be passed on to NSW Health clinicians with your consent.
