Fight crime with science at Questacon this National Science Week

Get ready, Canberra! On Saturday 22 August, the Australian Federal Police (AFP) is once again teaming up with Questacon, the National Science and Technology Centre, for a science-meets-crime-fighting adventure the whole family will love.

Step into the shoes of an AFP STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) expert and uncover the science behind solving crimes! Curious minds of all ages can try fingerprint matching, uncover hidden messages, tackle geospatial challenges and explore interactive forensic science activities.

Young visitors will receive a ‘Junior Scientist Report Card’ and can collect stamps as they complete activities around Questacon. It’s a fun, educational experience that inspires young minds to think big about science and technology.

And that’s not all! Learn important safety tips from Constable Koala Kenny, say hello to your local ACT Policing officers, and check out a real police car and motorcycle up close.

Mark your calendars, bring your curiosity and discover how science and policing work hand in hand to help keep our communities safe. Who knows? You might even be inspired to become the next generation of STEM innovators.

This exciting day is part of National Science Week, Australia’s annual celebration of science and technology, which features more than 1,000 events across the country.

Questacon is located at King Edward Terrace, Parkes, and is open from 9am to 5pm. Normal admission fees apply.
