AFP members across the globe will commemorate the 110th anniversary of the Gallipoli landings, and honour all Australians who have served in times of peace and war, this ANZAC Day.

AFP members will take time today (25 April, 2025) to reflect on the sacrifices of Australian and New Zealand servicemen and women, extending remembrance activities from the Netherlands and the Maldives to Papua New Guinea and the United States.

With a focus on their extraordinary courage and service shown in all conflicts, especially World War I, AFP officers in Australia and internationally will participate in memorial Dawn Services and other commemoration activities.

AFP Deputy Commissioner Ian McCartney, who was presently performing the duties of Commissioner, said ANZAC Day was a time to pause and reflect on the immense sacrifices made by those who served their country.

“The AFP stands in proud solidarity with our military personnel, recognising the invaluable contribution of the Australian Defence Force (ADF) to keeping our people and our nation safe,” Deputy Commissioner McCartney said.

“We also recognise and honour those who serve in Australian and international peacekeeping efforts.

“No matter where our members are posted in the world, today we stand united to carry the legacy and sacrifice of the ANZACs in our memory. It is a time to join with our overseas law enforcement and government counterparts to reflect on, and commemorate, those who served and died in conflict.

“The AFP's commitment to honouring the ANZAC legacy extends beyond this day. We continue to work with the ADF on various collaborative operations and initiatives that ensure Australia’s security at home and abroad.

“Lest we forget.”
