Iran-born man charged with an alleged visa breach in WA

An Iran-born man is expected to appear before Perth Magistrates Court today (22 April, 2025), charged with allegedly failing to comply with his visa-mandated conditions. 

The AFP charged the man, 39, today (22 April, 2025) after he was located in Perth. 

It will be alleged the man failed to return to his nominated address during his mandated curfew hours.  

He has been charged with one count of failing to remain at a notified address, contrary to section 76C of the Migration Act 1958 (Cth). 

This offence carries a maximum penalty of five years’ imprisonment and/or a $99,000 fine.
