Sudan-born man charged with alleged damage of Commonwealth property in WA

A Sudan-born man has appeared before the Perth Magistrates Court today (13 October, 2025) charged after allegedly damaging Commonwealth property.  

The AFP charged the man, 34, today (13 October, 2025) after he was located in Perth.

It is alleged he deliberately damaged equipment needed to maintain an electronic monitoring device.  

The man has been charged with one count of damaging property belonging to a Commonwealth entity, contrary to section 132.8A of the Criminal Code (Cth).

The maximum penalty for this offence is 10 years’ imprisonment.

The man is next due to appear before court on 24 October, 2025.
