Sudan-born man charged with alleged visa breaches in Queensland

A Sudan-born man is set to appear before Brisbane Magistrates Court today (29 January, 2025), charged with failing to comply with his visa-mandated reporting conditions.

The AFP charged the man, 37, yesterday (28 January, 2025), after he was located in Brisbane.

It will be alleged the man breached one of the conditions of his Commonwealth visa between 4 January, 2025, and 27 January, 2025, by failing to report as directed.

The man has been charged with one count of failing to comply with a requirement of the monitoring condition, contrary to section 76B (1) of the Migration Act 1958 (Cth).

This offence carries a maximum penalty of five years’ imprisonment and/or a $93,900 fine.
