Vietnam-born man charged with alleged visa breach in Queensland

A Vietnam-born man is expected to appear before Brisbane Magistrates Court today (20 March, 2025), charged with allegedly failing to comply with his visa-mandated conditions.

The man, 29, was charged yesterday (19 March, 2025), after he was located in Brisbane by the AFP with assistance from the Australian Border Force.

It will be alleged the man breached the conditions of his Commonwealth visa between 8 February and 19 March, 2025, by failing to report as required.

He has been charged with one count of failing to report as required, contrary to section 76B of the Migration Act 1958 (Cth).

This offence carries a maximum penalty of five years’ imprisonment and/or a $93,900 fine.
