WA alleged OMCG member in court over knuckledusters found in carry-on luggage

An alleged West Australian member of the Hells Angels Outlaw Motorcycle Gang (OMCG) has been summonsed to appear before Perth Magistrates Court today (30 April, 2025), to face a charge of allegedly possessing a prohibited weapon in his carry-on luggage.
The man, 57, was travelling from Perth to Melbourne on 30 January, 2025, when security screening staff at Perth Airport allegedly found knuckledusters in his carry-on luggage.
AFP officers seized the item, and the man was allowed to travel to Melbourne.
On 22 March, 2025, AFP officers attended his home in Chittering and issued him with a summons for one count of carrying or possessing a prohibited weapon (knuckleduster), contrary to section 6(1)(b) of the Weapons Act 1999 (WA).
The maximum penalty for this offence five years’ imprisonment or a $60,000 fine.
AFP Superintendent Aviation Peter Hatch said the AFP worked closely with the aviation industry and other partners to prevent illegal activity at airports.
“This case is testament to the security screening processes at Perth Airport to ensure the safety of passengers,” Supt Hatch said.
“Perth Airport, in partnership with the AFP, nullified a potential threat to the travelling public.
“It is an offence to carry knuckledusters in a public place, including in the airport and on planes.”
