WA man charged for alleged disorderly behaviour at Perth Airport

A Byford man is expected to appear before Perth Magistrates Court today (7 April, 2025) charged with disorderly behaviour at Perth Airport.
The AFP responded to a request for assistance inside a domestic terminal last month (24 March, 2025).
The AFP will allege the man, 37, was intoxicated as he boarded a flight bound for Melbourne. When airline staff asked the man to leave the aircraft due to his intoxication, he was allegedly loud and aggressive towards them and later punched the wall outside a boarding gate with an open palm.
AFP officers attended and arrested the man when he allegedly refused to identify himself.
The man was charged with:
- One count of acting in a disorderly manner in public, contrary to section 74A of the Criminal Code (Cth); and
- One count of failure to comply with a request, contrary to section 16(6) of the Criminal Investigation (Identifying People) Act (Cth).
Each offence carries a maximum penalty of $6000.
AFP Detective Inspector Peter Brindal said the AFP would not tolerate disorderly or violent behaviour and commended the officers for their swift action.
“Our airports are a shared, safe space and airport and airline staff should not have to deal with intoxicated passengers, verbal abuse or any other bad behaviour,” Det Insp Brindal said.
“The AFP works closely with our partners in the airline industry to intervene if anyone’s behaviour in or around an airport becomes aggressive."
