From the intensive care unit to an AFP nurse
Nikki has spent more than 20 years working in intensive care units, and now is one of the many incredible healthcare professionals in SHIELD: a health and wellbeing service available to all past and present employees, reservists and their families.
She works alongside doctors, mental health clinicians, physiotherapists, exercise physiologists, and other nurses to keep our workforce fit and healthy.
Having worked around Australia and overseas, Nikki knows one thing for sure: working with people to support them with their health and wellness choices earlier in life is the best way to prevent longer term poor health outcomes or irreversible chronic disease.
SHIELD has a dedicated team of clinicians and health professionals who understand the unique nature of the work within the AFP. This enables SHIELD to deliver individual and team-based services, training and resources across our agency, which are available in all commands and Canberra.
