According to Commander Richard Chin, different is beautiful and difference is celebrated at the AFP.
Richard’s parents migrated to Australia from Brunei before he was born. He has found that coming from a culturally and linguistically diverse background has helped him thrive in the AFP. Richard is a living example of how the AFP fosters employees of different backgrounds. His family thought, as a police officer, he would be rolling around with criminals. He soon demonstrated that a role in the AFP is much more complex than that.
As part of the AFP, Richard is committed to developing a workforce that reflects the communities we serve. To Richard, work is not just a job— there is heart that goes into it and it’s the reason why people stay with the AFP for a long time.
