Iran-born man charged with alleged visa breach in Perth

An Iran-born man is expected to appear before Perth Magistrates Court today (4 February, 2025), charged with allegedly failing to comply with one of his visa-mandated conditions.

The man, 39, was charged yesterday (3 February, 2025), after he was located in Perth. 

It will be alleged the man breached one of the conditions of his Commonwealth visa between 30 January, 2025, and 31 January, 2025, by failing to maintain his monitoring device. 

The man has been charged with one count of failing to comply with a requirement to ensure his monitoring device remains in good working order, contrary to section 76D(3) of the Migration Act 1958 (Cth).

This offence carries a maximum penalty of five years’ imprisonment and/or a $93,900 fine.
