Iran-born man charged with six alleged visa breaches in NSW

An Iran-born man appeared in the Parramatta Local Court yesterday (Tuesday, 29 October, 2024) charged with allegedly failing to comply with his visa-mandated conditions.  

The AFP charged the man, 36, on Tuesday, 29 October, 2024, after he was located in western Sydney. 

It will be alleged the man breached one of the conditions of his Commonwealth visa between 30 September, 2024 and 27 October, 2024, by failing to observe his curfew conditions.  

The man was charged with:  

  • Six counts of failing to comply with curfew conditions, contrary to section 76C of the Migration Act 1958 (Cth). 

This offence carries a maximum penalty of five years’ imprisonment and/or a $93,900 fine for each offence.
