Myanmar-born man charged with alleged visa breach in Victoria

A Myanmar-born man is set to appear before Latrobe Valley Magistrates' Court today (24 September, 2025) charged with allegedly failing to comply with his visa-mandated conditions. 

The AFP charged the man, 33, today (24 September, 2025), after he was located in regional Victoria.

It will be alleged he breached a condition of his Commonwealth visa by being within a certain distance of a school between 6 September, 2025 and 18 September, 2025.

He has been charged with:  

  • Seven counts of failing to comply with 070 visa conditions, contrary to section 76DAB(1) of the Migration Act 1958 (Cth).

This offence carries a maximum penalty of five years’ imprisonment and/or a $99,000 fine
