International Missing Children's Day
International Missing Children's Day is held on 25 May each year.
Thousands of children are reported missing to police each year in Australia. Most are found safe within 24 hours. Some are not.
International Missing Children's Day raises awareness of missing children globally. In Australia, it's a time for us to reflect on missing children and their affected families.
We deliver this campaign through the Global Missing Children's Network, working with the International Centre for Missing and Exploited Children.
In our work to combat crimes against children, we strive to prevent them from going missing and to keep them from harm when they do.
The National Missing Persons Coordination Centre (NMPCC) is a non-operational arm of the AFP. The centre coordinates a national response to missing persons in Australia. Our work complements the investigative role of state and territory policing services.
