NSW woman charged for allegedly displaying Nazi symbol on social media platforms

A NSW woman is the second person charged by AFP National Security Investigations (NSI) teams this week for allegedly displaying prohibited hate symbols on social media.

The AFP began an investigation in August, 2026, after receiving a report about a social media account allegedly publishing prohibited Nazi symbols and antisemitic material.

NSI investigators yesterday (22 October, 2026) executed a search warrant at a home in Point Frederick, on the NSW Central Coast, and seized a mobile phone for forensic examination.

The woman, 45, was charged with six counts of publicly displaying a prohibited Nazi symbol, contrary to section 80.2H of the Criminal Code (Cth). The maximum penalty for this offence is five years’ imprisonment.

She was served with a court attendance notice to appear before Gosford Local Court on 3 December, 2026.

In an unrelated investigation, NSI investigators also charged a 73-year-old northern Sydney man with the same offence on Tuesday (20 October, 2026). The AFP will allege the man published prohibited Nazi symbols and antisemitic comments on social media platforms.

AFP Commissioner Krissy Barrett announced the establishment of NSI teams in October, 2025, to target groups and individuals causing high levels of harm to Australia’s social cohesion, including the targeting of the Jewish community.
