Sudanese-born man charged with alleged visa breach in Victoria

A Sudanese-born man is set to appear before Dandenong Magistrates’ Court today (Tuesday, 24 December, 2024) charged with allegedly failing to comply with his visa-mandated curfew conditions.

The AFP charged the man, 33, on 24 December, 2024, after he was located in Melbourne.

It will be alleged the man breached a condition of his Commonwealth visa on Thursday, 19 December, 2024, and Sunday, 22 December, 2024, by failing to abide by his curfew hours.

The man has been charged with two counts of failing to comply with curfew, contrary to section 76C(1)of the Migration Act 1958 (Cth).

This offence carries a maximum penalty of five years’ imprisonment and/or a $93,900 fine.
