We’re currently undertaking our largest ever recruitment drive seeking everyday people in WA to become Protective Service Officers (PSOs) and undertake legendary work with the AFP.  
 

Protective service officer roles in Perth

As a protective service officer in Perth, you'll protect Australian people and places. You'll be a first responder to national security threats.

What you'll do 

As a PSO in Perth, you'll provide: 

  • highly visible uniformed security at Defence sites and Perth Airport 
  • operational planning and delivery for special events and protests
  • first-response capabilities, including enhanced counter-terrorism first response and canine handling
  • intelligence-led, risk-based targeted activities
  • stakeholder engagement and partnership building.  
     

PSOs work across Perth to deliver enhanced protection at locations including HMAS Stirling, Perth Airport and via our Dignitary Protection Unit.

Protecting Australia's largest naval base at HMAS Stirling

We’re currently undertaking our largest recruitment drive for Protective Service Officers to work at Submarine Rotational Force West, HMAS Stirling, a Royal Australian Navy base situated just south of Perth.

As a PSO at HMAS Stirling, you’ll contribute your service to Australia’s defence capabilities and national security. You'll have the opportunity to develop specialist skills and capabilities across a range of areas including:  

  • drone detection
  • maritime  
  • rapid response 
  • bomb appraisal  
  • short barrel rifle 
  • public order management. 

You’ll gain invaluable experiences working with domestic and international defence stakeholders alongside nuclear-powered submarines.

Get paid to train

Earn while you learn during 15 weeks of paid training.

Salary

Starts at $78,960.86 after graduation, plus overtime and penalties*

Superannuation

15.4% even during parental leave.

Basic eligibility

18+ Australian citizen, fit and active, driver's licence, good character.

Salary is inclusive of base salary, 22% composite and Use of Force (UoF) allowance. The annual payment of the UoF allowance is dependent on members successfully holding and maintaining a UoF certification.
